STATE COLLEGE, Pennsylvania — Junior Paul Judah was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Championships, interim head coach Yuan Xiao was named Big Ten Coach of the Year, and three Wolverines won individual event titles as the University of Michigan men’s gymnastics team finished competing at the Big Ten Championships Saturday, April 2 at Rec Hall from State College, Pennsylvania.

Senior Jacob Moore won the second Big Ten floor exercise championship of his career, scoring a 14.400. He had already won a victory in the 2019 season and is the first Wolverine gymnast to win two titles in his career since Mike McKee (1982-83).

Junior Paul Judah followed up his all-around championship on Friday (April 1) with a win on high bar, scoring a 14.500. Judah’s win on high bar was the 15th in program history and the first since Sam Mikulak in 2013.

Second year Evgueni Siminiuc won the parallel bars, scoring a 14.500. Siminiuc’s title was the 23rd victory on the parallel bar and the first since Nick Hunter in 2015.

Second year Javier Alfonso and junior Adam Wooten earned second places on high rings (14.075) and high bar (13.950), respectively.

The event titles placed Moore, Judah and Siminiuc in the All-Big Ten first team, while Alfonso and Wooten earned second-team berths.

After the game, the interim head coach Yuan Xiao was named Big Ten Coach of the Year.

The team’s success means UM will qualify for the 2022 NCAA Championships, hosted April 16-17 by the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla.
