UK premiere for Oak Tree Leisure Center – Mansfield District Council

The new Innerva Health Studio at Oak Tree Leisure Center – the first Innerva-branded facility in the UK, after the Huddersfield-based company was renamed from Shapemaster this year – is now open.

The opening follows a ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by Cllr Andy Burgin on behalf of the Executive Mayor, who in his speech remembered former Ward Councilor Oak Tree Ward Vaughan Hopewell, who died in June this year.

Cllr Burgin, portfolio holder for environment and recreation tried out the assisted gym equipment in the studio and had this to say about this new type of fitness space.

He said: “The Health Studio with its assisted equipment will serve as an entry point for people who are unsure of a traditional gym environment. This will give people the opportunity to improve their health and their outcomes in life.

“It will be a space where people can gather, socialize and exercise. Add the new Community Hall to Oak Tree and you have two great, much needed additions to this multi-award winning recreation center.

“Cllr Hopewell has proudly served this neighborhood for over ten years, and I’m sure he would have been very pleased with the development. On his behalf, I salute the investment in services to benefit the local community here in Oak Tree Ward.

Brian Taylor, Chairman of More Community Leisure Trust, which operates the Oak Tree Leisure Center in partnership with Serco Leisure, said: “Seeing the Innerva Assisted Equipment in action and trying it out myself, it’s easy to see this new addition to Oak Tree Leisure. The center becomes a big hit with locals eager to try something new in health and fitness.

“The machines are easy to use and have a range of settings, allowing users to find the tempo and resistance that suits them. I encourage people who want to be more active but don’t feel ready for a traditional gym to try the Health Studio.

David Heathcote, Business Development Manager at Innerva, attended the event and added: “Since our rebranding in June this year – we were previously known as Shapemaster – the Oak Tree Leisure Center Health Studio brand the first time in the UK that an establishment has presented kit with the new Innerva brand, so it was a proud moment for me to see the machines unveiled.

“It is clear from attending the event and talking to people how much More Leisure Community Trust, Serco Leisure and Mansfield District Council are focused on ensuring that local people are able to lead a healthier, happier lives, and we hope Innerva gear will be a key part of that.
