Torri Henry wins second America East passer of the week award
BOSTON – For the second time this season, the second-year setter in women’s volleyball Torri Henri was named America East Setter of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday. The weekly honor marks the fourth week in a row that at least one Seawolf has won an America East: Henry Weekly Award (Setter of the Week, August 31), Enitan Omolewa (Player of the week, September 7), Leoni Kunz (Player of the week, September 14) and Henry (Ferryman of the week, September 21).
Henry continued to punctuate Stony Brook’s offensive offense as she distributed a total of 145 assists and 9.06 assists per set in a four-game week. She started the week with 30 assists against St. John’s on Tuesday in an enemy battle in New York.
Henry started the Maryland tournament by handing out 36 assists in a win over Columbia on Friday. The sophomore then distributed 27 assists against Maryland, then recorded his third game of over 50 assists of the season with 52 assists in a win over Akron on Saturday. Defensively, she had 37 digs as the Seawolves went 2-2 last week.
The Seawolves open the championship game next weekend in Baltimore, facing defending champions UMBC at 1 p.m. ET.
