The city of Bettendorf is looking for park ambassadors
BETTENDORF, Iowa (KWQC) –The town of Bettendorf The Parks and Recreation Department is looking for volunteers to serve as Park Ambassadors for the 2022 season.
Meredith Fabrizius, Director of Culture and Leisure, informs viewers about the Park Ambassador Program. The duties of these volunteers include giving instructions, providing information about park activities, monitoring vandalism, reminding guests to abide by park rules, and serving as additional eyes and ears for the department. Volunteers are essentially considered “goodwill ambassadors” and must be over the age of 18. Residing in Bettendorf. is not a requirement. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license. Interested persons must be in good physical health and must pass a criminal background check.
Park Ambassadors are usually sent in pairs. Each ambassador usually volunteers two or three nights a month. They patrol in rotation between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. every night, from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. Volunteers are given a hat and shirt so they can be easily identified, as well as a city vehicle in which to patrol the parks.
How to register: Applications can be picked up from the list of locations below and should be returned to Meredith at Life Fitness Center.
