Planet Fitness arrives in the new Lenox: Village

NEW LENOX, IL – Those looking to get a good start – or a very late start – in their New Year’s resolution to get in shape will soon have help from one of the nation’s largest fitness center chains : Planet Fitness.

The Village of New Lenox announced in a press release Friday the decision to bring Planet Fitness by the end of 2021 into the vacant FIM store space at 700 W. Lincoln Highway. The space is 28,474 square feet, depending on the Village, giving those who want to get in shape plenty of space and options to do so.

“We are thrilled to welcome Planet Fitness to our community,” said New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann. “As the west side of our city continues to redevelop, it’s great to see quality businesses coming here for our residents. “

Planet Fitness offers a range of cardio and strength training equipment, individualized workout programs and a mobile app to help clients stay fit on the go, according to its website. There are over 2,000 Planet Fitness gyms in the United States

The space reserved for Planet Fitness had been vacant since 2013, according to the Village. During this period, Beggar’s Pizza purchased the plaza where the store front is located and made some notable improvements to the plaza, including repairs and redevelopment of the parking lot, a new paint job for the plaza facade and upgrades to its internal systems, according to the village.
