Ladies set to host SCAC weekend crossover

Shreveport– The Centennial volleyball team will host a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference crossover event this weekend as the Ladies host five other conference schools with games starting at 11 a.m. Friday.

The weekend will feature 10 games in total on Friday and Saturday, played both at the Gold Dome and the Campus Fitness Center (FIT). Friday’s opener will feature Austin College ‘Roos against the Trinity Tigers in the Gold Dome at 11 a.m. and Dallas against Southwestern in FIT at the same time. The Women are 5-0 at home this season and have yet to lose a single set, sweeping four straight matches including a double.

The Women (9-10, 0-2 SCAC) face the Schreiner Mountaineers (1-7, 0-3) at 1 p.m. at the Gold Dome in their first of three games this weekend. The ‘Roos will then face the Southwestern Pirates at 3 p.m. in the Gold Dome and the last two matches of the day will be the Ladies vs. Trinity (5 p.m. Gold Dome) and the University of Dallas Crusaders vs. Schreiner in the FIT at 5 p.m.

Saturday’s schedule includes four games, three at the Gold Dome and one at FIT. Southwestern faces Schreiner at 10 a.m. to start the day, followed by Dallas against Trinity at noon, also at the Gold Dome. The Women will face Southwestern at 2:00 p.m. at the Dome and Austin College and Schreiner will face off in the final match of the weekend at 2:00 p.m. at FIT.

The seven matches staged in the Gold Dome will feature both live stats and live video. The three ITF matches will not have live video but will have live statistics.

2021 SCAC Divisional Volleyball Tournament

Centenary lost two non-conference road games on Tuesday, losing 3-1 to LeTourneau and 3-0 to East Texas Baptist. The Women have now lost four straight games following a season-high six-game winning streak. LeTourneau won the first set, 25-21, then the Women tied the game with a 25-23 victory in the second set. The YellowJackets won a hotly contested third set (26-24) before closing the fourth game, 25-12. The Women opened the SCAC game last weekend in Irving, Texas, as they lost 3-0 to Dallas and Austin College 3-1.

Senior OH Alyssa Davis (Leonard, TX) had 18 digs and 13 assists as well as one assist. Sophomore DS / L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) tied Davis with 18 digs and added six assists. Senior S Marichael Clarin-Jante (Houston, TX) had 21 assists, a game-high, with 9 digs, two aces and one kill. Senior MB Elizabeth Epley (Nashville, Tenn.) Recorded a record 12 kills and added five digs and one assist.

Freshman RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, Louisiana) recorded 10 kills and one salvage, and second DS / L Tori Ligman (Bossier City, Louisiana) had seven digs and one assist. . Senior Lauren Kelley (Fort Worth, TX) and rookie MB Elizabeth Canady (League City, TX) combined for 13 kills, four digs and an ace. Sophomore S Regan Griffin (Arlington, Texas) recorded 16 assists and three digs. The Women finished the game with 71 digs, 51 kills and 46 assists.

ETBU won the first set, 25-13, then won the second set 25-11 and closed the match with a 25-15 victory in the third set.

Davis had six digs and three assists and Clarin-Jante had eight assists and seven digs. St. Martin had eight digs and two kills and Proctor had seven digs. MB junior Liz Lowe (San Antonio, TX) had four digs and four kills. Centenary recorded 39 digs, 14 kills and 13 assists.

Davis comes into play this weekend as the SCAC leader in kills with 211 and is averaging 4.06 per game. She is also seventh in recovery with 188 and is averaging 3.62 / game. She is also just 10 kills under 1,000 for her career and can reach the impressive milestone in the women’s game against Schreiner on Friday afternoon. Davis is currently the all-time second in the Division III era (2011-present) in kills and is only 166 behind career leader Desiree Frey who played from 2014 to 2017.

Clarin-Jante is currently fifth in the conference in assists with 303, averaging 5.83 / game. She also had 125 digs this season. Ligman is having a solid season with 141 digs, 14 aces and 14 assists. St. Martin is having a fantastic rookie season with 112 kills and 71 digs. Proctor has 148 digs, 29 assists and seven aces.
