Gym owners release statement after two people die in crash outside building
Owners of a gym where two people died in an accident have sent their condolences to family and friends of those involved. Two people died and three others were seriously injured when a white BMW 330 sedan crashed into the LyonsDen Fitness gymnasium in Bagillt in the early hours of Friday morning.
The incident prompted a major response from the Welsh Ambulance Service, which dispatched five ambulances and two rapid response vehicles to the area shortly after 2.30am. Wales Air Ambulance was also alerted, with a crew circling the area before landing around 3.15am.
In a joint statement, Neil Lyons and his wife, Faye, who run LyonsDen Fitness, located on the A548 at its junction with the A5026, said: “Neil and I would like to pass on our condolences to the family and To the friends of those involved in this morning’s tragic accident. We are very saddened by their loss and wish those in hospital a speedy recovery. Faye xx”

The gymnasium posted on Facebook in the morning that it was closed until further notice due to “structural damage to the building” caused by the accident. The A548 reopened just after 1pm, according to North Wales Police who said the bereaved families are being cared for by specialist officers.
In an earlier statement, the force said: ‘Officers attended the scene of a single vehicle traffic accident in the early hours of this morning (Friday). The collision happened near the junction of the A548 with the A5026 at Bagillt, and road closures have been put in place. Unfortunately, two people have died and three others are currently hospitalized in serious condition.
“Officers remain at the scene while our investigations continue, and the road will be closed until at least lunchtime. We are appealing to any witnesses or those with picture from the board camera on board, who saw a white BMW 330 sedan traveling along the A548 from the direction of Flint towards Bagillt, before 2.30am, please contact us.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: ‘We responded with two rapid response vehicles and five emergency ambulances. We were supported by a crew from the Wales Air Ambulance.
