The start of a new year is always marked with ads for diet programs, gym memberships and more.

In our neighborhood, early 2022 comes with the inauguration of a fitness room. It’s called Fit Social Club and opens at Mockingbird Station on January 7th.

We mentioned this during an October roundup of tenants moving into the mall.

Mockingbird Station featured a great location for Fit Social Club due to its proximity to Uptown, SMU, East Dallas and Lakewood, Lake Highlands and Highland Park, the gym’s owners said in an email.

Fit Social Club was started by Michael and Erin Vara, a husband and wife duo with over 15 years of experience in the fitness industry. Michael was introduced to indoor cycling while in college, and it started his career in boutique fitness. Erin, from Plano, raced professionally for two years and was sponsored by Adidas and Brooks. After her retirement she started working with young athletes across the metroplex.

The couple had a studio in Uptown, but it closed in February 2021. After that, they and their coaches began taking pop-up classes at different locations, including Mockingbird Station. Varas don’t live in East Dallas, but some of their employees do.

From now on, Fit Social Club will be there permanently, in suite 192, which once housed Urban Outfitters before moving to another suite.

Three types of 45-minute lessons are available: intensity, cycling and power up.

All class packages will be 15% off Jan. 7-9, and there will be raffles to win free classes, gift cards, Dallas Mavericks tickets and more. On January 8, StretchLab will be hosting stretching sessions and products from Terlingua Coffee and Clean Juice will be available.
