Dr. Breanna Robinson appointed Associate Senior Director of Sport for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Sport Administration
CHAMPAIGN, IL – Dr. Breanna Robinson has been appointed Associate Senior Director of Sports for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Sports Administration at the University of Illinois.
“We are extremely happy to add Dr Breanna Robinson to our Fighting Illini family,” said UI Sports Director. Josh whitman noted. “As part of our leadership team, Bre will lead our growing and increasingly focused efforts in diversity, equity and inclusion. She will also provide administrative supervision for many of our sports programs, coaches and student-athletes. Bre is a star in our industry, and we were impressed during the interview process by his passion, thoughtfulness and leadership ability. Her background and experience, her energy and values will make her an invaluable leader for Illinois Athletics.
Robinson will provide ministerial leadership in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion for student-athletes and IAD staff. She will also take on sports administration and oversight functions for several sports programs as a member of the 10-person executive staff of DIA.

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Robinson joins the Fighting Illini track team after holding several positions at the University of Miami since 2017, most recently as Associate Athletic Director for Diversity, Advocacy and Student Achievement. -athletes. She has also served as Deputy Director of Sports for Leadership and Diversity, Deputy Director of Sports and Deputy Director of Academic Services and Student Athlete Eligibility.
Robinson also spent time as the Academic Coordinator for Men’s Basketball and Women’s Volleyball at Georgia Tech from 2011 to 2013, and as Assistant Athletic Director and Admissions Director at Toledo Central Catholic High School from 2013 to 2017. She has started her athletics career in Miami in 2009 as an academic coach and graduate assistant to the additional instruction workshop, then as an academic coordinator / learning specialist for intercollegiate athletics during the year school 2010-11.
While studying in Miami, Robinson competed as a member of the Miami softball team and received her Bachelor of Science in Health and Athletic Studies in 2008. She was a four-year laureate for the Redhawks and was a member of the 2005 MAC Softball Championship team. Robinson is still at the top of several categories in Miami for single-season scores, including home runs (11, tied with two others) and RBI (51). She ranks in the top 10 in the history of the program in both categories. Robinson went on to earn his MSc in Miami in Exercise and Health Studies. She successfully defended her thesis in June 2021 and will earn her Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration from Bowling Green State later this month. Robinson begins working in Illinois on August 16.
